before yesterday I saw " President", documentaries on Yves Jeuland last season's regional Georges Freche . Peace to his soul, but it is uplifting! It's like being in a film by Jean-Pierre Mocky: the president's entourage of Languedoc-Roussillon consists of Tronches not possible, drunken, cheulou , bonds, Stooges, supporters and courtiers who knows very well, a small band-like mafia, counsel at the questionable utility and the humor fat, chewing gum in the manner of ruminants, bovine eyes sometimes, constantly fiddling with their mobile phones as if to signify that all fuck but they still better be there, fluttering around FrĂȘche. It shows a picture inglorious policy .
Georges Freche himself appears in a not really sympathetic character vulgar, sometimes disgusting in her behavior, ostensibly picking his teeth when his advisers are trying ... to advise him, gulping a slice of ham, licking the ear of one of his running mates or puff of sticky (authentic!), spending most of his time in front of piles of signature books to sign mechanically documents that do not even read!
And then there's the cynicism, lies, false sincerity, the manipulation of men, selfishness, brutality, all the more surprising that FrĂȘche is weak, ill, severely handicapped, aid of a cane or a shoulder adjacent, with moments of madness through her face, a disturbing stillness of a statue, like those he is desperate to build in his hometown of Montpellier Mao and Lenin understood (it has little, escaped Stalin!).
But so it is the policy? So this is socialism? And these guys I would not even want in my kitchen, they are comrades, socialists? I find it hard to convince myself I'm another and a high opinion of the left , not the one that put myself through this painful documentary. However, I must qualify and correct my decision, once past the shock of images: the large screen inevitably brings to the cartoon, then takes a face the enormity of mouth, tics, through the heavily accented, probably unfairly.
Especially, there is a policy dimension that the documentary does not (this was not the goal): management of the city and region , the achievements of Georges Freche. Public action, ultimately, that's not the behavior, style or personality of individuals in power. Because they will say anything you like him, we can criticize it as I do, nothing will erase that Freche was elected five consecutive times mayor of Montpellier. That's what the history and people remember about him, because that's the only thing that matters in a democracy. Go see this movie if you do not show that disgusted is that you are good at politics!
Good afternoon.
